Changes to the Podcast

Changes to the Podcast blog post by Iris Carden

During the past week, I received notice from both WordPress and Spotify for Podcasters, that the interface between their two sites was changing.

What that means in practical terms, is that I will no longer just be able to click on a button and have an electronic voice read my post into a podcast episode.

This change will happen by the eleventh of May, but I’m going to trial recording the podcast myself from now, while there is still a back-up plan in place.

So what does the road ahead for the podcast look like?

At least for a trial period, I’m going to try to record myself reading the stories.

It theoretically should be possible.  In ministry I relied on speaking.  Before that I worked in radio for a few fleeting months.

The current problems are: that my voice does not hold up well anymore, and that this is going to require me to be far more organised, and plan better.

I can’t guarantee I will manage either of those things, but we shall see.

If you listen to the podcast, and are used to the odd electronic voice with the American accent, I apologise that from here on in, you get my Australian accent, if you get anything at all.

While there will still be a week in review post on the website, there won’t be a week in review podcast in future.  Recording one episode a day will be more than enough for me.

So, going forward, I’ll do my best, but I won’t guarantee, or promise,  anything.
