Dear Mum and Dad… poem by Iris Carden

Dear Mum and Dad,
from your daughter who's stuck.
I hate boarding school.
It's really just ... unbearably terrible.

There's a nasty teacher,
in a class I can't switch,
at least once each lesson,
she calls me a ... stupid child.

I got a new boyfriend.
He's already an ex.
I was uncomfortable
when he asked me ... to buy him stuff.

Then there's the class bully
who thinks she's just it.
She's really so cruel
she's just not worth ... my time or attention.

Please let me come home!
You know that you should!
I promise, I promise,
I've learned to be good.

The principal's crazy.
When I see him I run.
He patrols the halls
with a pen and a ... detention list.

My room mate just pulled
a horrible stunt.
She ripped up my homework.
She's just a ... truly horrible person.

The food's really awful.
The best bit's stale bread.
If I keep eating it
I know I'll end up ... with gastrointestinal upset.

The air conditioners broke
and the fans did as well.
Outside's forty degrees.
Inside it's hot as ... the surface of the planet Mercury.

Please let me come home!
Oh tell me you've heard!
If you let me come home,
I won't use "bad words".

While you’re here…
