The Visitor

by Fantasia Dog

Something really great happened this week!

My favourite human came to visit. You might think my human should be my favourite, and it’s true I love the human I live with, and the upstairs human, but the one I love the best, my absolute best friend in the world is the small human.

When I first came here from the shelter the small human was very small, and had only just learned to walk. Oh we played and played. We played tea parties and dress ups and we had stories read to us together. We were just two little girls growing up together.

The small human has moved further away since then, and I don’t see her as often. But she came to visit me this week! Yes, she visited the humans and other animals as well, but I know she was really just here to see me. She’s got bigger. She’s so big now, she can read to me. She read me a very nice story, I didn’t quite understand what it was about, but I know it was very good, and she only needed my human to help with one word in the whole book.

We played in the back yard together, and picked lemons from the tree for my human. Well, my friend picked the lemons, I supervised. My friend swung on the swing and I watched. It was so good!

We had so much fun together. I had the best time!

When the small human left, my human said she was too tired for a walk. I didn’t mind, I’d been running around the yard with my friend.

My human put on a movie, so I got up on her lap to watch with her and we both fell asleep. When we woke up the movie had ended. My human said, “I know it’s only 4pm, but I think I need to go to bed now.”

I showed her my empty bowl. She said right, “Animal dinner time first.”

She put food in my bowl and put Princess’ wet food in her bowl.

Princess didn’t wake up. I took one bite of my food and realised I was too tired to eat it. We all went to bed and didn’t wake up until the next morning.

What a great time it was! I hope the small human visits again soon.

Fantasia Dog

Fanta is a graduate of the Animal Welfare League Qld shelter, where she was known as Fantasia. On arrival at her forever home, her full name was declared too pretentious, and she became known as Fanta. Occasionally, when she emits noxious gases, she is known as Fartica or Fartica the Hellhound. She likes walks, playing, eating, more eating, and cats when they don’t bite her ears. She dislikes baths, cats when they do bite her ears, and dogs who bark at her when she’s out walking. Although she owns approximately a zillion toys, she only likes to play with Bear, Crocodile and Elephant.
