The End of an Era

Blog post by Iris Carden

I’ve just posted the following to all my old blogs, under the title “So Long, and thanks for all the Fish”.

The End of an Era

After a decade, I have decided to leave the blogger platform behind.

Yes it’s been a long journey.  Never fear.  I am transferring the best posts from my  blogs to my new site.

The web address for the site is https://iriscardenauthor.wordpress.com

Blogs

This site is effectively multiple blogs in one site.

If you want the content you’ve been reading at sometimesitislupus.com, you will find it at: https://iriscardenauthor.wordpress.com/category/lupus/

If you want the content you’ve been reading at mrbumpycat.com, you will find it at https://iriscardenauthor.wordpress.com/category/pets/

If you want the content you’ve been reading at storiesontherun.com, you will find it at https://iriscardenauthor.wordpress.com/category/short-stories/

If you want information about my books, you will find it at https://iriscardenauthor.wordpress.com/category/books/

Other things of interest

If you’re interested in more of my writing than just the blog you’ve been following up until now, the Blog page https://iriscardenauthor.wordpress.com/blog/  will let you read a bit of everything.

If you want an overview of all my books, the Books page

https://iriscardenauthor.wordpress.com/books/ has that information, and links to buy the books directly from the publisher.

If it all sounds a bit much, just go to the home page https://iriscardenauthor.wordpress.com and that will help you find your feet.

What happens to the existing blogs?

The blogs sometimesitislupus.com, mrbumpycat.com, worship-services.blogspot.com and storiesontherun.com have had their day.  I’m not going to renew the domain names, and I will close down the blogs completely on 25 April 2022.

If there’s anything on here you want very much to keep, I recommend you copy it now.

If there’s a post you love and think it really, absolutely, should be carried over to the new site, tell me about it at

https://www.facebook.com/IrisCardenAuthor  or at https://twitter.com/IrisCarden .

Social media and email

The Sometimes, it is Lupus Facebook page and the Mr Bumpy Cat Facebook page are both being closed down as well.

The social media links for all my writing will be:

https://twitter.com/IrisCarden

https://www.facebook.com/IrisCardenAuthor

https://www.instagram.com/authoririscarden/

The Sometimes, it is Lupus and Mr Bumpy Cat email addresses will also stop working when the blogs do.  If you need to contact me, please send a direct message on social media.  At the moment, I don’t anticipate having an email address for the new website.

Needed

This change has been needed for some time. It’s partly because maintaining multiple sites has become increasingly difficult for me.

It’s partly because Google seems to keep making things more complicated, and the services I have been using for them seem to have been getting harder and harder to access and use all the time.  Perhaps, it’s just brain fog. Perhaps I’m just getting old and losing patience.  Either way, I’ve reached the limit.

Community

I know that a community has formed around the sites I am closing, particularly Sometimes, it is Lupus.  I can only hope that in time the new site will provide some of the same sense of community. Some things will be lost, but hopefully, some wonderful new things will be gained.
